How to make an ordinary photo look contemporary...Textured Art Photography

I had this idea in mind for a while now - creating a tutorial on "How it's done". Finally, I found the time to do it, and I hope it will be helpful for those of you who are interested in Textured Art Photography.

Step 1: This is what the image looked like straight from the camera

First thing I did was to fix the colors by adjusting the levels, hue/saturation and vibrance - just like that:

Here it is after the adjustments were done:

Pretty nice isn't it? If you like simplicity you can stop right here, and use the image just the way it is, but what I enjoy the most is creating Textured Art Photography, so I will continue explaining how I came up with the image above.

Step 2: Now it's time for adding some textures. There are a lot of free textures that can be found on the net. Most of the time the only requirement, in order to download them, is to subscribe for the owners newsletters. Or...you can create your own textures, if you prefer so. These are the once that I used:

The first one I used with Linear Burn Blending Option and opacity 70%, the second one Soft Light Blending option and the third one with Overlay Blending option.

This is how it looks after adding the textures:

Because I needed a little bit more detail of the image itself and I wanted to add some drama, I copied the original photo and placed the layer between texture 1 and texture 2 with Overlay blending option:

...and here it is - the final result:

Thank you for visiting my blog. I hope it was helpful...Please, feel free to leave your comments below I will appreciate it...See you next time :)
